One of the most famous passages of Scripture is the 23rd Psalm, which starts “The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing.”
On a personal level, this can feel untrue. I lack nothing? Really?! I can think of several things that I feel like I lack.
When David wrote this, he was not inviting us into some delusional state in which we pretend that we have everything. Rather, he was encouraging us to recognize that God will provide for us in any circircumstance. And since God is the Shepherd, he gets to decide what that provision looks like. Sometimes it’s not exactly what we expected, but it’s always a blessing.
We have found this to be true in our journey at Abijah’s Hope. There have been ups and downs recently, but the Lord is still providing, and we’re still providing amazing services to hurting people and horses.
He is a good Shepherd.
